Each BJJ class will vary but you can expect a warm up, technique drills where you learn moves like the triangle choke and some sparring.
It’s hard to say how long it takes as this depends on the individual’s previous experience of martial arts and ability. But if you are a complete beginner and train consistently each week for 6 months, you should start to see real improvements in your fitness and fighting technique. .
As BJJ is a very technical form of martial arts focused on grappling, beginners will likely find it challenging to begin with. This is because students are learning how to overcome natural body instincts. One of these is not using your arms to push away and escape from bottom positions. You need to utilise the power of your hips.
At Unique Gym our classes cost £10 per session.
We price monthly memberships at £50 for adults, which includes unlimited access to any available class, including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Great discounts for couples and families are also available.
Please bring BJJ Gi, BJJ Belt, BJJ Rash Guard, a drink and a towel, which helps maintain our hygiene standards. But if you’re new to BJJ or forgot something, you can buy a water bottle or rent equipment from us.,
We recommend comfortable, loose clothing like shorts and a t-shirt that you can easily move around in. You shouldn’t wear trainers during the class.
